I don't think it's just me but I swear that right wingers in this country are feeling a little emboldened these days and nothing could make that more clear than an editorial in the Toronto Sun by none other than Canada's own very real version of a crazy bitch, Rachel Marsden.
Ms Marsdumb, in her classic ultra sensitive style, seems to think that the torture practice of waterboarding is reminiscent of competitive swim training. Ah, the college days ...
I suppose that those who object to terror suspects getting water up the nose would say that, as a young competitive swimmer, I was also tortured. It was called "hypoxic training" -- swimming underwater and holding our breath until we passed out. Our coaches didn't call it torture, just an exercise in "mental toughness." So think of it this way -- terror suspects are getting some free mental toughness training courtesy of the U.S. government.Do I really have to point out that what happens to torture victims is they are already beaten and mentally and physically worn out before this happens to them? To receive this type of treatment after all that must be confusing and terrifying in a way that self serving spoiled brats like the Marsdumn will never know but in my opinion really should learn.
Words fail me but they don't fail others, go to A Creative Revolution for more and bastard.logic for a good roundup on the story.
The Sun should be taken to task for allowing that story to be printed, this is not responsible journalism, frankly I wouldn't allow my pets to shit on that paper. It reminds me of a gay pride day years ago when I saw a very cute young man walking around with a sign saying "I Slept With Your [Sun Logo]".
