Welcome To Canada

When I got up this morning I found myself watching the 6 am news and a video of a man who died at Vancouver Airport.

[I wanted to include the video but it was removed from Youtube for some strange reason.]

UPDATE:
This is the cell phone video.

I’m totally blowing off clients right now because I’m so pissed off about this I’d rather take a chance on losing money, and this whole thing makes me sick to be Canadian. People who know me know how much I love my country.

When I first heard about the story I knew damn well something was wrong, the media was right to call attention to it, at least we still have media in Canada that does that.

I used to work in the security biz and I have to admit there is a certain mind frame required to do the job without driving yourself crazy. That’s why I don’t do it anymore.

Unfortunately the mind frame required to do the job doesn’t allow much room for people who act outside the current perception of normal. It’s difficult, it’s as if you’re playing God on the spur of the moment throughout your shift. It’s really fucking tough, I did security at the bus depot in Calgary when it was downtown, that’s fuckin tough man.

BUT, in this day and age of international travel, even with all the scare mongering over terrorist threats, real or imagined, you have to look at the person. This is where the RCMP failed. We have a case of some police dudes who got caught up in the hysterical bullshit that has become the Twenty First Century, post 9-11, and they failed in their jobs in a spectacular way.

This is the very thing I worried about when Bush was “elected”, right wing, self-serving hysteria for the masses who are so busy trying to fit into a world when they don’t even understand the harm they do trying to be the self-serving good little sheep they are.

I fight hard for rights in this country and this makes me sick.
