If you never had any idea what side of the political spectrum CTV is on, we sure saw it last week, we might as well call it Fox North. Mike Duffy proved himself once again to be the ideological pig I already know he is, I shudder to think he had a wet spot when he had his much dreamed of Limbaugh moment as he gloated over Dion’s interview gaffe.
There's a lot to be said about the Conservative's childish, unbridled glee over a bad interview that never should have aired in the first place, and most certainly wouldn't have aired if it were Harper on a French network, for example. We can talk about the issue of Dion's language skills all we want or the issue of the interviewer's linguistic skills in asking a badly worded, leading question in his own language.
But let's not forget that CTV showed childish, selfish judgment at what they obviously saw as a partisan political moment that they tried to dress up as a warning to the nation.
Let's also not forget that the first thing Harper did as Prime Minister was to muzzle the press, eliminate media scrums and allow scripted-only press conferences where reporters actually had to be vetted before they were allowed to speak. All because Mr. Steven Harper himself is such a contemptuous, short tempered man who is unable to speak IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE without coming off like some kind of impatient jerk unless the situation is tightly controlled.
If any network did to Harper what CTV did to Dion, how much are you willing to bet Steve would be suing their asses off right now?
I'll take Dion’s honest mistakes over Steve's utter contempt for what he views as his unworthy subjects -- that would be you and me -- any day.
